CAHR 2010 Red Ribbon Award - Now Accepting Nominations
The Canadian Association of HIV Research (CAHR) is accepting nominations for the 2010 Red Ribbon Award .
This award is presented annually by CAHR to an individual who has given "outstanding service to the cause of research in a way that has increased our understanding of the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS, while enhancing the quality of life of those living with this disease".
Nominations for the 2010 recipient should be based on the following criteria:
• Commitment to the involvement of affected communities in HIV research
• Professional and/or volunteer service over several years to the cause of research
• Strong voice in support and/or advocacy for the role of research in HIV prevention or treatment
• Use of evidence in HIV prevention or treatment work, activities, publications etc.
• Contribution in promoting excellence in HIV research
• Collaboration and cooperation with HIV research communities
• Engagement in ongoing dialogue and knowledge exchange between HIV research communities and the broader AIDS and PLWA community
• Current or previous residence in Canada over several years
• Demonstration of these criteria in a primarily Canadian setting or in Canada and internationally
Previous recipients include the following: Evan Collins (2009), Réné Lavoie (2008), John Maxwell (2007), James Kreppner (2006), David Hoe (2005), Louise Binder (2004), Roger Leclerc (2003), Ralph Jurgens (2002) and Maggie Atkinson (2001).
Please email your nomination plus a brief description (less than one page) of that person's service to HIV/AIDS research and the reasons why he/she should be selected for this year's award to: info@cahr-acrv.ca
All nominations must be received by April 01, 2010.
A Red Ribbon Award Committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to CAHR for consideration. The 2010 recipient will be announced on the evening of May 14 during the Conference banquet. As well, the results of this call for nominations will be published on the CAHR website www.cahr-acrv.ca
Candidatures au prix Ruban rouge
L'Association canadienne de recherche sur le VIH (ACRV) accepte actuellement des propositions de candidature pour le prix Ruban rouge 2010 .
Le prix Ruban rouge est remis chaque année par l'Association canadienne de recherche sur le VIH "pour souligner la contribution exceptionnelle d'une personne à la cause du VIH/sida et à l'avancement de la recherche sur le traitement, la prévention et l'amélioration de la qualité de vie des personnes vivant avec cette maladie".
Les candidatures au prix de 2010 doivent répondre aux critères suivants.
• Le candidat doit démontrer un engagement envers la participation des collectivités touchées à la recherche sur le VIH.
• Expérience professionnelle et/ou bénévole de plusieurs années en lien avec la cause de la recherche.
• Participation active au soutien et à la défense du rôle de la recherche en prévention et en traitement du VIH.
• Utilisation des données relatives à la prévention et au traitement du VIH dans le cadre de ses travaux, activités, publications, etc.
• Contribution à la promotion de l'excellence en matière de recherche sur le VIH.
• Collaboration et coopération avec les milieux de la recherche sur le VIH.
• Engagement envers un dialogue soutenu et l'échange de connaissances entre les milieux de la recherche sur le VIH et la communauté élargie du sida et des personnes vivant avec le sida.
• Résider actuellement ou avoir résidé au Canada pendant plusieurs années;
• Démonstration de ces critères dans un contexte principalement canadien ou au Canada et à l'international.
Le prix Ruban rouge a jusqu'à maintenant été décerné à Evan Collins (2009), Réné Lavoie (2008), John Maxwell (2007), James Kreppner (2006), David Hoe (2005), Louise Binder (2004), Roger Leclerc (2003), Ralph Jurgens (2002) et Maggie Atkinson (2001).
Veuillez envoyer votre proposition de candidature par courriel à info@cahr-acrv.ca , accompagnée d'une courte description (moins d'une page) de la contribution de cette personne à la recherche sur le VIH/sida et des raisons pour lesquelles le prix de cette année devrait lui être remis.
La date limite de réception des candidatures est le 1er avril 2010
Le comité du prix Ruban rouge examinera les candidatures et fera des recommandations à l'ACRV. Le nom du (de la) lauréat(e) du prix de 2010 sera annoncé le soir du 14 mai à l'occasion du banquet du congrès. Les résultats de cet appel de candidatures seront publiés sur le site Web de l'ACRV www.cahr-acrv.ca
