Every 14 seconds, a child is orphaned by HIV/AIDS. In a world with endless social issues, people often feel completely powerless. A group of high school students, inspired by an African hero, have decided to turn apathy into empathy. The second annual A Night for Africa will be held in benefit of Mully Children's Family in Kenya. MCF gives hope to over 1500 children. A Night for Africa is a celebration of music, remembrance, awareness and activism. Featuring an extensive silent auction, acappella group Soul Influence, pianist Paul Mason, Charles Mully and student performers.

Mully Children's Family was founded in 1989 by former street child Charles Mully. Starting with only 3 children, today MCF has affected over 4000. MCF has a keen eye towards sustainability and community building - giving hope to abandoned children and who can then help themselves and contribute to society.

Post election violence has hit Kenya hard. MCF is reaching out to over 18,000 people in the country's largest displaced persons camp. An additional 3,500 children are receiving full care from the home. There are also over 30 MCF children missing.

This event is organized by The United Youth Initiative - a new union of students for change.

Last year's event, held on December 1st 2006, raised over $7500 for MCF.

Pulled together in under one month by a 51 member volunteer group, the night was inspiring and memorable for the 315 people who attended.

Soul Influence shared the stage with incredible HTS students and alumni. The silent auction featured a PS3 and iPod Nano and raised $4000.

Using what we learned last year, we plan to make this year's event even more amazing.
