With at least 500 events being held worldwide in 115 countries, AIDS Vancouver is honoured to be the host community organizer of the Vancouver International AIDS Candlelight Memorial presented by Joytv BC.
Today there are over 33 million people living with HIV.
Over 115 countries will be celebrating the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial. This year the event will be organized on Sunday, May 22 2016.
Health, faith and community-based organizations will draw on the event to remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS, to support those living with HIV/ AIDS and to honour those affected by its impact. The gathering hopes to spur renewed calls to greater action from all of us to be agents in the curre nt response to the ongoing epidemic.
This year's theme Engage, Educate, Empower!
This years Candlelight Memorial can further be used as an opportunity to bring greater attention from communities to Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention, a rights based and people centered framework focusing on the health and well being of people living with HIV.
