Fighting Stigma & Discrimination in the United States
July 2, 2014 - Yesterday in Mississippi, a law took effect that provides legal cover for private businesses to actively discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation. EJAF's Founder Elton John and Chairman David Furnish released
a strong statement in response to this anti-gay law, calling it "an attack on the dignity and rights of LGBT people in Mississippi."

The Elton John AIDS Foundation has supported programs in Mississippi combating HIV/AIDS and supporting the gay community for many years. We are deeply saddened by the ignorance that fosters
discrimination, however we are also incredibly inspired by the many amazing activists and community leaders in Mississippi who
are fighting for justice and equality every single day.
