National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day
Today, April 10th is National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day. Congratulations to the advocates that created
this day to bring attention and resources to the impact that HIV has on our young people. We know that more than 1/3 of all new
HIV diagnoses are among youth ages 13-29. Our youth are our future, and by working with them we can help to ensure the
health and wellness of the coming generations. The National Native Youth Council on HIV (NNYC-HIV) has been
discussing this issue for the past year. They are showing their support for the Awareness Day by
participating in the social media awareness campaign. You can view pictures of the members making statements in favor of youth prevention by visiting their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NationalNativeYouthCouncilOnHivAidsnnycHiv .Please help spread this awareness effort.
You can visit the home page for NYHAAD on the Advocates for Youth website at http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/nyhaad-home for more information and to endorse the day.
Only by fully investing in young people - in their health, their education, and their leadership - can we reach an AIDS-free generation
